Baby!!!

Our second daughter, Zoe Samantha. The usual baby info: 8 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches, born at 12:09 on May 23, 2010, at Willow Creek Women’s Hospital.
Valerie is excited to be a big sister!
Excessive detail after the break:
Zoe has a little dark hair, blonde eyelashes and eyebrows, and little round mouse ears. She’s already lifting her head and trying to get up on her elbows! We think she’s perfect. Valerie is enjoying getting to hold and play with Zoe and often asks to see or touch her cute little sister. (So far so good on the sibling interaction!)
She lost almost a pound because my milk was slow coming in, but she’s a strong, healthy one anyway. And a champion sleeper. Now that her tummy gets nice and full, she sleeps up to four hours at a time. Her sister didn’t do that for a long time, certainly not before she was a week old.

Mom and I made her diapers. We’re using cloth and it’s easy, especially this cover and insert system I chose. I made a few fitted cloth diapers to use with the covers, as well. We also bought some commercial GroBaby (now GroVia) hybrid cloth diapers and a few covers in an adjustable one size. The diaper pail is less smelly and gross than with disposable diapers and so far the only real work involved is rinsing out this runny newborn poop to prevent horrible staining. Otherwise everything can be tossed straight in the laundry.

Congratulations!!! She’s beautiful.
She’s just a few weeks younger than our Oliver, born May 4th. Who also sleeps for long-ish stretches, which was also new for us, and is rather nice.
